Droitwich Spa Under 13s were unbeaten in 3 games in their latest Worcestershire Club Tournament

Droitwich went into their latest Under 13 Worcestershire Club Tournament with a strong squad, and a majority of the squad had all played together before.

There were four teams that took part in the Tournament which included the usually strong Bromsgrove A & B and Kings Heath.

Droitwich scored 5 goals and only conceded one goal during the three games.

Droitwich three fixtures started off playing the strongest team Bromsgrove before playong Bromsgrove B and Kings Heath Pickwick

Droitwich played well during the first game pushing higher up the pitch than they normally do allowing Spa to hit Bromsgrove on the Break. At the back the defence of Issie; George with Matthew in goal kept 'Grove at Bay with a combination of strong tackling and positional play. In the middle of the park Jack; John and Mat Gurr provided the steele as the ball was played around well, with one attack down the right producing a series of first time passes before an excellent cross which just eluded Fernando at the back stick.

Droitwich reward cam from a great counter attack and released Fernando who was cool and calm as he slotted the ball home.

As it was the first game, the team began to tire, and invited Bromsgrove ono ourselves. But Droitwich steele which was epitomised by team workrate meant 1-0 win was sealed.

Droitwich second game was against Kings Heath Pickwick and won this game 2-0

Each player in this game was confident on the ball moving around the pitch creating angles and more importantly using the pace and width.

Droitwich presurised the Kings Heath Pickwick backline with a high forward line who distributed the ball and attacked hard. Matthew Gurr opened the scoring after 8 minutes with a hard precise low finish after John quick thinking from a quickly taken free hit. Front 5 of Droitwich of James; Jon Jack Fernando and Matthew allowed pressure to tell again after a move down the left meant another Gurr low finish

George Hutchocks was playing like a wingback as he motored through the middle of the park unchallenged and laid another chance for Fernando who was unlucky not to finish

Droitwich 3rd game was against Bromsgrove B resulting in a 2-1 win, rounding off an excellent tournament. This game was an even encounter as Spa rolled the subs as the team began to tire. John got the first goal after good work by the team to set up his opportunity.

Bromsgrove equalised shortly after, but Droitwich were unperturbed and continued to attack. Fernando was in the right place at the right time to bag a poachers goals as he pounced on the ball after Jack provided pressure to their defence, meaning it was the winner.

This was an excellent three games playing against local teams; as the team made an concerted effort to work together and use the width of the pitch and create chances.

Well done to all the team; parents; and umpires
