Droitwich Spa Ladies 1s entertained Bourneville who are from a division higher than their Spa opponents.

First half Droitwich started brightly and had an early effort which flew passed the upright. This appeared to sting Bourneville into life as they forced Spa further back and opened the scoring after 8 minutes with a well constructed move down the right before the attacker applied the finishing touch.

Bourneville asserted further pressure as they played the ball around their defence before sending the ball out wide which gave their attackers more space but Kaylie Thomas and pressure from Spa defence forced shots.

Eventually the pressure told as they added a second on thirty minutes. Spa however began to find more space on the pitch as they Bourneville sat back and midfields such as Sam Wakelam and Molly Cresswell had more time on the ball to set up attack which saw Louise Warrilow with efforts which were saved from Bourneville keeper.

Just before Half time Molly Cresswell had another effort in front of goal which was saved well by away side keeper. After half time Spa pressure continued as Lucy Hine began to set up attacks from defence which saw Sam Wakelam fed Katie Brooker who initial effort was cleared at the back stick.

As Droitwich were higher up the pitch this allowed greater pressure which was resulting in Penalty Corners but strikes from Lucy Hine and Claire Derby were thwarted.

Just past the midway point of the second half droitwich reduced the arrears. Lucy Hine intercepted the ball in defence and released Sam Wakelam who beat the high line of the Bourneville defence and played a neat one two with Warrilow before Wakelam swept the ball past the keeper.

Remainder of the half was a see saw battle where neither side could exert their superiority and the match finished 2-1 to the higher ranked opponents. Droitwich entertain Kidderminster away as their campaign in Worcestershire Division 2 gets underway.
