3rds lose close battle with Hampton in Arden 5's

The 3rds started their new league campaign with a game against Hampton in Arden 5's. Two late call ups to the 2nd team gave the opportunity for new players Ben Guest and Ben Wood to make an appearance. The game started very evenly between the teams, both having opportunities to open the scoring but half time came with both sides not making a breakthrough. The second half saw the visitors take the lead from a penalty corner, Spa continued to push forward and came close with Leon Walter's hitting the post on a well worked penalty corner. Further pressure resulted in another penalty corner and this time Martyn Davies fired home with a straight strike to quick for the goalie to react. Hampton rallied back and despite good defensive play from the team, the visitors scored again from another penalty corner.
