Droitwich came back from a lacklustre start and 2-0 down to win 3-2 and maintain winning streak

Droitwich Spa Hockey Club entertained Stourport Badgers looking to extend their winning streak as previously the home side had beaten 2 different Worcester Sides 2-0and 3-1 respectively

Stourport started the stronger side as they punished Spa lacklustre start and were up 2-0 in double quick time with composed finishes from their young strike force who pressurised high up the pitch. As Droitwich awoke, they began to push Stourport back with quickly taken free hit and pushing their forward and defensive lines further up the pitch.

Spa first real opportunity came after Matthew Gurr motored down the left hand side before feeding the ball to Owen Ross whose cross found Joe Cairns at the back stick but some how managed to miss the goal. George Battin was put through down the right side and his effort skewed wide as the homeside pressure increased

After a rousing speech from SImon Blackmore, Spa were on the front foot from the restart. Joe Cairns, was found after a neat move down the homeside left after 3 quick passes whose quick shot sailed wide of the post.

Quick thinking from a free hit from right back George Hutchocks played in Matt Gurr who fed Fernando Prenidville whose powerfull byline cross found Cairns at the back stick who flicked the ball into the roof of the net to reduce the arrears.

Droitwich with renewed confidence harried Stourport and presented Gurr and Prendiville with further chances.

From a Penalty Corner after conserted pressure whereStour'port keeper kept them in the game with close rang saves from bouncing shots, but Prendiville pressed home spa advantage as he finished off a fine Penalty Corner.

Stourport sought the winner as they looked to hit on the counter with home keeper, Marc Chorley, producing a kicker save to keep the score level.

Spa looked composed as Sam Radford kept the team moving forward playing forward thinking balls and from these it led to Cairns bagging his second to give the home side a much deserved victory.

The whole team played well as the outfought the away team and became quicker and more aggressive in the areas that mattered.

Droitwich make the short trip to Bromsgrove looking to end the first half of the season on a high
