The newly reformed Droitwich Badgers side made further improvements despite falling to narrow loss to local rivals Bromsgrove. With a number of new faces Droitwich were slow to find their shape and were quickly put under pressure by Bromsgrove. A number of saves by keeper Marc Chorley and resolute tackling by Isabelle Trickett and George Hutchcocks kept Droitwich in the game. A mistake by Simon Blackmore allowed Bromsgrove a free shot at goal which they duly took. Droitwich lifted their game and started to press into the Bromsgrove half and forced a number of saves from Bromsgrove keeper. Bromsgrove continued to look dangerous on the break and once again Marc Chorley kept the deficit to a single goal at half time. The second half saw Droitwich continue to press for an equaliser. Good work between George Battin and Adam Tavener in midfield put Matt Gurr clear only to fire narrowly wide. The Bromsgrove keeper then pulled off a series of saves to keep Matt Gurr and John Phillips at bay. Droitwich could not capitalise on a series of short corners and were very unfortunate to fall further behind to the only Bromsgrove short corner of the game late on. Droitwich battled to the end and were cheered off by their enthusiastic travelling fans. The team has made some significant steps forward in only few weeks and have a promising future.
