This was Spa first fixture in this newly formed Fathom Friendly league.
In Droitwich team there were players making their debuts at Adults level which included George Hutchocks; and Matthew Gurr.
In the opening exchanges it became apparent that it was going to be a long afternoon as the home side displayed greater strength and skill and determination. This meant it took a while for the more youthful outfit to find their feet.
Droitwich defence held firm despite the onslaugh in the opening exchanges as their defence was exposed, but a combination of good defending and keeping kept the home side with older experienced heads at the back. Down the right however was Spa best outlet.
However during a five minute spell Pershore scored twice to effectively win the game; one from open play with a shot across Spa Keeper and a second a follow up effort after the initial shot was saved by the Droitwich Keeper.
Spa made a tactical switch as Nick Bates came into the right back area to help create stability at the back; but the like of George Huthcocks and Edwards Battin on the left began to gain an understanding and set up some raids as well as down the right.
The half ended with Spa David Purchase having an effort on goal which flew just wide.
In the seconds half Droitwich frustrated the home team as defence picked their players but the Midfield also helped out thus minimising the opportunities, and allowing the away keeper to frustrate the homeside attackers.
Near the end of the game Matthew Gurr aggression gained a shooting opportunity; as well as David Purchase once more
This shows there is potential with in the youngsters at Droitwich Hockey Club,, and as Pershore mentioned duringthe game, at least there are youngsters coming through the ranks who will help challenge our other men sides.
