Droitwich selected a strong squad, even with a substitute against a strong stourport side on a cold frosty night.

Droitwich started the better team quickly gelling and pressing Stourport into mistakes. As the mist began to descend Spa launched an attack down the right hand side which ended with a quality cross from Barry WIliams and Luke Wickes applying the finishing touch.

This increased Droitwich desire to keep going forward, but meant the homside came under increasing pressure as Stourport looked to switch the play from side to side and open up gaps and use their skilfull and awkward centre forward to their best. A few minutes later Stourport equalised from open play with a low finish.

Before the half was over Stourport scored another two goals to leave the half time score 3-1, but this was despite the effort and work rate of the whole Spa team who hassled and harried all over the park.

In the second half Droitwich began feistier and quicker as they created chances which Luke Wickes; Peter Gurr and Barry Williams were unlucky not to get on the end of.

Many of the raids began in the centre of the Park as Craig Timmis and Peter Prendiville promoted and probed the Stourport defence before moving the ball wide. Spa second of the night came from a Pete Gurr finish to bring the score back to 3-2 before Stourport scored from two penalty corners and one from open play.

Droitwich next Veterans game is against Worcester on November 26th.
