Droitwich went into their fourth encounter looking to get points on the board and to play better than last week 6-0 defeat against Worcester.

Droitwich contrived to throw away another lead in this exciting 7 goal thriller in this summer league derby encounter versus Redditch.

Redditch opened the scoring ealry doors; Droitwich equalised and scored two quick goals with a Redditch goal sandwiched inbetween before the away team scored two goals in the second half.

Spa have scored in all but one of their games as they looked to sure up the defensive line and increase the work rate necessary to combat a younger less experienced Redditch side.

Droitwich once more conceded a early goal this one after two minutes from a Penalty Corner as Redditch attacker deflected the goal bound shot high into the net past Spa Keeper Robertshaw.

Despite this setback the homeside grew in to the game, moving the ball around the back creating overlaps dowb both flanks in this high enery game in warm conditions. Spa equaliser duly arrived after twenty two minutes with Lee Wakelham rounding off a flowing move to score on the right. Five minutes later Spa edged ahead as Matthew Lee capped another fine move after Marcus Claytor played the decisive ball.

Droitwich maintained their energy levels in all over the park in particular Joseph Neal working tirelessy on the left working both in attack and making excellent defensive tackles on the cover to maintain the status quo. Redditch however equalised with in a minute with a field goal after Droitwich conceded needless possession in the midddle of the park.

After this, Redditch had a glorious opportunity to score after a move down the Spa left hand side but George Robertshaw smothered the effort as Redditch forwards piled in to win the ball.

The remainder of the half saw both sides continue to attack but Redditch frustration grew resulting in poor tackles, but as the half was about to end Alexei Payne pounced on a mistake by Redditch midfield and the umpires played an advantange as Payne waltzed around the Redditch defence before drawing the away keeper and slotting the ball home to give Droitwich the 3-2 lead into the break.

After the break, Droitwich hit Redditch on the break as Mark Barte drove forwards on numerous occasions. but his and Spa final pass in attacking areas let them down.

Redditch punished thesed missed opportunities as they once more equalised 6 minnutes after the restart.

George Robertshaw Spa Keeper ccontinued to keep the homeside in the game with a commanding performance in goal keeping out several efforts; one noteworthy strike from Redditch that he deflected onto his left hand post. After this Lee Wakelham had the ball in the back of the net, but the umpires had blown for a stick check prior to his effort.

Marcus Claytor had further opportunites out wide on the right to deliver crosses but always picked the defender; as did others of Spa forward line. In a mirror image of the first half Spa attacked down their left with seconds left and conceded possession and Redditch scored the winner on 35 minutes with a scuffed reverse stick effort leaving Spa winless after four in the Mercian Summer League.

Spa travel to Baford Tigers next seeking their first win of the season which could move them above their opponents.
