Droitwich lose to Worcester, who scored three goals in a devastating two minute spell

Droitwich went into their third leaue summer encounter against a srong Worcester side lookinng to open their account.
Spa made two changes to the side who played so well against Evesham with Alex Brewer and Nick Bartle stepping in.

Droitwich conceded a goal in the opening ninety seconds of the game, after Spa gifted Worcester possesion who broke decisively, to score the opener.

For the next thirty minutes Droitwich regained their composure as they gained a foothold in the middle of the park. Although Worcester broke, Droitwich managed to get a stick to the ball at the last moment.

Droitwich first effort arrived midway through the half when Matthew Lee shot was well saved by the home keeper. Marcus Claytor continued to cause problems with his pace and trickery and created a half chance which was well saved by the home keeper.

George Robertshaw starred in Spa goal kicking away several efforts to keep the score to one nil.

In a two minute spell four minutes before half time Worcester struck three times: one a pile driver from the top of the circle and two well worked team goals attacking Spa left before cutting the ball back to the strikers who scored from close range.

Afer the break Worcester continued to press, but Droitwich remained dogged in defence, putting in well timed challenges to bring the ball away only to turn it over in midfield.

George Robertshaw continued to keep the score down with some excellent pad and glove saves from flicks at short corners. But from one short corner routine Robertshaw was beaten with a low shot to his right on 45 minutes.
After this Spa had more of the ball in the middle of the park as they looked to set Alex brewer free down the right and Joseph Neal down the left but Worcester nullified any threat.

Worcester continued to look to increase their lead, but Nick Bartle thwarted them from another excellent stop and clearance on the goal line from another short corner. Worcester last and sixth goal arrived after 55 minutes with another well taken shot from the top of the circle which nestled into the top right hand corner of the goal.

Droitwich main threat in the second half was Matthew Lee who had a effort deflected for a long corner after Worcester defender blocked his shot. In one of Spa best moves, Lee and Craig Smith exchange passes to open Worcester defence down the middle before Lee unselfishly passed the ball in the circle only for Smith to scuff his finish on the reverse.

This left the final score 6-0 to the home team.

Droitwich go into next week home derby game against Redditch in search of the first win at the fourth attempt.
